An ex-Wells Fargo Advisor broker filed a 46-page cert petition asking the Supreme Court to to overturn a $1.6 million arbitration award that the wirehouse won against him in a promissory note dispute. Christopher Caputo, a 35-year industry veteran, asked the justices to hear his argument that the award should be tossed and that Wells owes him deferred compensation.
Caputo had previously failed to vacate the award in federal and appellate courts, and his petition to the Supreme Court appears to be a Hail Mary given “so few” cases are ultimately heard, according to plaintiff lawyer Jack Edwards of the Ajamie firm in Houston.
